This is the photo that accompanied my story in The Keene Sentinel. Ambika, my host aunt, was cutting grass for the cows in the fields near Jharuwarasi.
* The private school is located in Jharuwarasi, Nepal, in the Kathmandu Valley. The nearest large city is Patan, just outsideof Kathamandu, the capital of the country.
* The school has approximately 250 students and about 20 teachers, assistants, and administrators.
* The school was established by a group of local people, including several teachers' spouses. Nepali people have founded many private schools in the country in order to give their children a better education, as most private schools offer teaching in English, instead of only Nepali.
* There are 50 students at the school that have a full scholarship, and 25 students with a partial scholarship to help pay for fees including uniforms, tests, and activities. The school would like to increase the number of students it provides scholarships to, if more money is raised towards the scholarships.
* Students are taught the following subjects: English, Nepali, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Environmental Science, Health Education, Physical Education, Economics, and Computer (the school currently has two computers but no internet.)
